Scotties have come a long way from their humble origins in the Scottish Highlands. A Scottie is the only dog to figure on a statue of a president of the United States. And, they are immortalised as a piece on one of the world’s most popular board games. Both serve as pointers to the enduring appeal of this stout, wiry terrier.

Scottie puppies grow on average from 10″ to 11″ (25 to 28cm) tall and will weigh between 19 and 23pounds (8 to 11kg). They need to be groomed about twice a week (if kept long) to prevent any mats or tangles, but many owners prefer to have them professionally clipped.

Scottie puppies come from a hardy breed so, unsurprisingly, will adapt to most living conditions. They won’t however, adapt to a lack of company and exercise, both being important to maintaining a happy and healthy dog. They prove energetic pets and formidable escape artists, so make sure your garden fence is properly secured.

They are loyal companions but can be very territorial and independent, so patient and consistent training is required from an early age. Scottie puppies can make good family pets but tend to form strong attachments to one particular owner so are even more suitable for single owners.

All Dogs4Us Scottie puppies come with a six month guarantee and are temporary vaccinated, wormed and microchipped for identification.  Please call us prior to visiting should you be interested in buying a Scottie puppy, so we can check availability.
